Accidents - What should I do if someone has an accident in the Hall?

All accidents occuring in the Hall or in the grounds should be entered in to the Accident Book. This is kept in the kitchen cupboard along with the First Aid Kit.

If necessary call for emergency medical assistance. The nearest public telephone is in the lane adjacent to Grazeley Primary School, opposite the Hall (map).

In case of fire or other major emergency at the Hall, contact the relevant emergency services and also contact the Lettings Secretary on 0870 383 1820.

Booking online - How do I do it?

Booking online is pretty simple. You just find the date and time you'd like to hire the Hall in our online calendar and, if it's available, fill in a simple form online, then send us a deposit cheque.

A step-by-step guide to booking online, plus related questions and answers, can be found here or by selecting 'Help' at any time from the top of the online calendar screens.

External links - What do the little arrows mean?

If you use a web browser such as Firefox, Mozilla or Safari you'll notice a little arrow appears next to some web links. This arrow indicates that the link will take you to an external site - ie: a site that does not belong to Grazeley Village Hall.

These arrows do not currently appear in Internet Explorer or other browsers that do not support CSS3 attribute selectors.

Payments - How can I pay?

We generally prefer cheque payments, although cash is accepted by arrangement with the Treasurer.

We have previously been asked if we accept credit/debit card and online payment methods. Unfortunatly this is currently not an option, although we may be able to provide this service in the future.

Our phone number - Why does Grazeley Village Hall use an 0870 phone number?

The main contact number for the Hall is via the Lettings Secretary on 0870 383 1820. This number is known as a non-geographic number and is charged at BT's national rate1 (other phone suppliers may charge different rates).

We understand that some people don't like calling 0870 numbers but we use this number for the following reasons:

  • the Hall is run by a committee of volunteers. Without using the 0870 number we would have to publish their personal home numbers which we feel is a big intrusion in to personal privacy.
  • we can divert calls made to the number at any time to any member of the committee. Should the Lettings Secretary go on holiday, or be replaced, the number can be diverted to a different person.
  • we are a charity. Each time we change who takes the calls, we would need to produce new publicity, new signage, update the website, and attempt to update every mention of the old number. This is unrealistic and highly expensive and so we use the one, central, number.
  • additional services such as voice messaging is available to callers should the line already be engaged.
  • a single point of contact. With just one number being published, this relatively easy to remember number acts as a single point of contact for all Hall enquiries.

Our 0870 number is provided for free2 by YAC and we receive no revenue from use of the number.

1 - BT pricing information.

2 - The service remains free to the Hall as long as the number receives 20 minutes of incoming calls per month.
